Transport for London (TfL) have confirmed that they are considering a postponement of the Direct Vision Standard scheme.

The decision to consider pushing back the launch of the scheme comes after TfL suspended all road charging schemes in London. A spokesperson from TfL said that: “The matter is of course under consideration, and any changes would form part of the TfL-wide operational response to the coronavirus outbreak.”

Direct Vision was originally scheduled to go live in later October.
However, the majority of  truck manufacturers have announced that they are halting production in their European factories, making the prospect of orders being completed in time unlikely.

“The timescales do not now allow for HGVs to be upgraded by October, and implementation should be postponed by one year.”
