The BAR Team

From our HQ in Watford the BAR team run the Association for the benefit of our Members and their customers, as well as manage compliance and respond to consumer enquiries. We are supported by elected individuals from amongst the membership, who serve BAR’s Board of Directors, Functional and Special Interest Group Councils and various sub-committees.

Director General

Ian has, in excess of 45 years’ experience in the moving industry and has been involved with the BAR for almost 20 of those years. Away from work Ian has his wife, 2 daughters and their respective partners and is a huge fan of the game of rugby, especially England Rugby and Harlequins. Ian is outgoing, enjoys time spent with friends, family, work colleagues alike, and is a confirmed barbecue fan, rain or shine!

Governance & Compliance Manager

Tracy has worked at BAR since April 2009 and provides full secretarial support to the Director General. In addition, Tracy provides full HR support to BAR including contracts, recruitment and managing personal records. Tracy is also responsible for office management, dealing with contracts, equipment maintenance and hotel bookings.

Training and Membership Services Manager

Stephen joined BAR in 2015. Having a background originally in engineering, he moved into logistics then training, working for organisations such as Tesco and JAUPT where he gained valuable skills and experience which has allowed him to develop the training offering to meet the needs BAR’s Members. In his spare time, Stephen enjoys karting, gardening and walking in the magnificent Chiltern countryside with his wife and energetic spaniel.

Membership Services and Marketing Assistant

Scott joined BAR in June 2015, working in his role as a Membership & Marketing Assistant. He provides support to the Commercial Moving Group Council and to all Members and Affiliates of the BAR. Outside of work, Scott enjoys socialising with friends, football and motorsport especially Formula one on a Sunday afternoon.

Training Administrator

Charlotte provides support to the Training Team, who arrange training at BAR Watford, Members premises and through the network of the BAR Approved Training Centres. Her role covers the entire training cycle from researching and creating courses through to sales and marketing of training. In Charlotte’s spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking, reading and socialising with friends.

Compliance & Disputes Advisor

Lucy joined BAR in May 2021, working in her role as Compliance & Disputes advisor she provides support and advice to both Consumers and Members regarding the resolution of disputes.  Lucy also provides administrative support to Compliance relating to the compliance of BAR Members against the BAR/CTSI Code of Practice, Membership Criteria and Inspection processes. Outside of work, Lucy is kept busy by her two daughters and also has a keen interest in home.

Jacqueline’s role involves dealing with all inspection reports and assisting Members and New Applicants in rectifying any non-conformities raised at their inspections. Alongside this, she deals with the everyday administration tasks of QSS.

David Woodhouse

David Woodhouse

QSS General Manager

David was the third generation of a family removals business based in Newtown, Mid-Wales. He spent his teen summer years working on the vans. David took over the family business in 1987 and ran it successfully until 2002 when he sold out to Fox Moving Group. David stayed with Fox then moved to White & Co in Telford, Matt Purdie and more latterly Broughton Removals in Scotland. In 2018, David took on the role of QSS General Manager.
