Following the unfortunate mechanical demise of the company’s first roadtrain, a decision was made to opt for a full refurbishment of the trailer and transplant of the running gear. Eurogroup opted for a new DAF XF super space on an 18t chassis with Euro 6 480bhp engine, and equipped with long range fuel tanks and a full crew comfort pack. This vehicle is the sixth DAF XF in their fleet, with the owners finding them to be reliable, efficient, and popular with their crews, which is essential as the crews can be away from home and needing to be self-sufficient for up to three weeks when completing continental trips. The transplant and refurbishment were completed Vancraft, a local bodybuilder from Norfolk, and can carry up to 9 storage containers or accommodate a car, in either the truck or trailer. Further improvements on the existing 16/17 plate models were also requested to help with simplified driver maintenance procedures and to reduce unwanted cosmetic damage. Competition is keen amongst staff for being assigned this latest addition to the fleet it is anticipated that at the company will enjoy maximum use with it servicing their European contracts.
