The BAR Young Movers brings together the next generation of
professional movers under the age of 40.
October evening meetup
– save the date!
Government restrictions permitting, the BAR Young Movers Group (YMG) will be
hosting a social event on Saturday 10 October so that young moving professionals can
come together and share experiences and ideas about how we can best move forward in what
will surely be testing times ahead, writes BAR Young Movers Group Council Chairman Ciaran Mullarkey.

The social event will take place in an easily accessible
location (possibly Manchester or Liverpool) and
may include a daytime business session focused on
advising Young Movers on how to best manage the
current circumstances. Further details about content
and booking will be communicated via email and
our Facebook group (www.facebook.com/groups/
baryoungmovers) in due course.
This is to make up for the cancellation of this year’s
keenly anticipated YM Annual Meeting in Belfast, which
the YMG Council has decided to postpone to October 2021
in order to protect the health of Young Movers and their
families during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
In the meantime, the YMG Council will continue
to engage with our members via our Facebook group,
particularly by sharing business guidance and other
The platform now features a wide range of online
support and coaching, including webinars on
marketing strategy and other pertinent industry topics,
and we hope YMs will benefit from this content.
In addition, we have been working closely with BAR
Director General Ian Studd and Training Manager
Stephen Thorp to put the finishing touches on a range
of YM-specific training material, including a course on
sales techniques, which will be rolled out in the near
future. Unfortunately, it is likely that our plans for an
overseas study tour will also be postponed by another
year to 2022 but we will confirm this with members
once the situation becomes clearer.
