The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government has referenced the BAR brand as a mark of quality in new guidance published for homeowners and prospective homeowners.

The How to Buy and How to Sell guides recommend that, when selecting a removals company, buyers and sellers first check the firm is a member of a trade association such as the BAR before checking insurance cover, online reviews and small print for additional charges.

The guides provide overviews of the processes of buying and selling a home in England and Wales, setting out the important steps for each process, which organisations can help and where to find more information. They have been produced as a result of the Government’s review of the UK home buying and selling processes, launched in late 2017, to which BAR Director General Ian Studd provided detailed input into how the processes currently work and the BAR’s suggestions for improvements.
