Around 300 migrants have been cleared from a makeshift camp outside Porte de la Chapelle in northern Paris. Reuters has reported that all migrants displaced from the camp have been given shelter elsewhere in the city, and all consented to being moved. The camp, which was based under a bridge next to “Peripherique” ring road, is now being cleared away.
This is the latest in a series of camp clearances around Paris and the northern coast by the French government. It’s currently unclear whether this is likely to have any impact on the number of migrants attempting to enter the UK via lorries. French authorities have said they are taking a tough approach to discourage people from returning to the northern coast.
