Association wide Elections

As part of the established retirement by rotation procedure in BAR, its subsidiaries: QSS Ltd and BAR (Services) Ltd, and Group Councils: Commercial Moving Group and Overseas Group, elections will be held during February and March 2017 for Directors and councillors to replace those who are standing down at the BAR Annual General Meeting in May.

This procedure is a very important part of the democratic structure of the Association, and this is a call for volunteers to step forward and take part in the election for the following posts:

 

BAR Board of Directors – 1 x Directly Elected Director (DED)
A new Directly Elected Director is required for the Board of Directors of the Association. There are four Board meetings each year, usually at BAR Headquarters in Watford, and Directors are also expected to attend the Annual Conference in May, and the AGM. The term of office is three years. All BAR Members are eligible to stand.


QSS Board of Directors – 1 x Directors
One Director are required for the Board of Directors of QSS Ltd. There are four Board meetings each year, normally held at BAR Headquarters in Watford. The term of office is three years. All BAR Members are eligible to stand.


BAR Services Board of Directors – 2 x Directors
Two Directors are required for the Board of Directors of BAR Services Ltd. There are four Board meetings each year, normally held at BAR Headquarters in Watford. The term of office is three years. All BAR Members are eligible to stand.


Commercial Moving Group Council – 3 Positions available
There is currently 3 positions available for the Commercial Moving Group council. There are three Council meetings each year, normally held at BAR Headquarters in Watford. Only Members of the Commercial Moving Group are eligible to stand.


Overseas Group Council – 1 Position available

There is currently 1 position available for the Overseas Group council. There are three Council meetings each year, normally held at BAR Headquarters in Watford.  Only Members of the Overseas Group are eligible to stand. Only Members of the Overseas Group are eligible to stand.

 

All the posts are unpaid, but usual expenses may be claimed for travelling and overnight accommodation as necessary. Only the nominated representatives of current BAR Member companies may participate as candidates for election. Those who have previously served as a Director may stand for election again, if they choose.

An online election, as required, will take place on 20th -24th March 2017.  If you wish to stand for any of the posts described above or would like any additional information of the roles and what is entailed, please email the BAR Company Secretary, in confidence, at paul.swindon@bar.co.uk, by no later than 5.00pm, Monday 13 March 2017.
